The Sailfin Tang has an oval shaped body with vertical brown bands with yellow highlights. The Sailfin Tang's color will intensify and its body will double in size when raising its dorsal fins if threatened or excited.
The Sailfin Tang is a great addition to a fish only or reef tank, they can even handle their own with more aggressive fish in larger systems. Provide lots of live rock for grazing and shelter. The Sailfin Tang is very hardy but requires an adequate diet for coloration and overall good health; feed them well.
Have plenty of live rock in your tank. Tangs will graze on the live rock and it will provide necessary hiding areas and swim pass-throughs.
Tangs will eat just about all fish foods; Ocean Nutrition Pellets are a perfect diet. Feed tangs with plenty of marine-based seaweed, as this will keep them healthy. Try putting seaweed on a veggie clip, or break into small pieces and feed 2-3 times per week. Ocean Nutrition Seaweed contains garlic which helps the immune system in these colorful fish.
