The Dragon Wrasse or Rockmover Wrasse gets its nickname from turning over rocks and coral searching for food. The juvenile Dragon Wrasse has an olive to black body with white spots and spiny-looking fins. Adults have a white band on the tail fin and a brown to black scale design on the body, and the fins will become more round.
The Dragon Wrasse are not the easiest fish to keep because of their sleep schedule. In the early evening they will bury themselves in the substrate only to return in late morning the next day. Adult Dragon Wrasses will become more aggressive and eat all invertebrates and possibly small fish, therefore it is best to keep them in semi-aggressive fish-only tanks. Keep only one per tank. Have lots of good shelter and thick sandy substrate, a nice snug fitting lid for the tank is a must.
The wrasse will consume a wide variety of foods. Feed vitamin enriched frozen and dry foods. Train your wrasse to eat Ocean Nutrition Pellet Food for a healthy diet.
