Description
The Coral Catshark is a light gray streamlined shark with muted black and white spots scattered on its entire body.
The Coral Catshark stays relatively small for a shark and makes a good aquarium shark. The Meandering Coral Catshark needs open swimming area on the bottom of the tank with a sandy bottom to prevent scratches on its soft skin. Maintain pristine water conditions with plentiful dissolved oxygen in the water and good water movement. Some structures are needed for shelter as well. More than one can be kept in larger tanks. Keep the Coral Catshark with more formidable fish such as larger tangs, and less aggressive angelfish. Puffers, Triggerfish and aggressive angels should not be housed with sharks as they can inflict wounds in the eyes and soft skin of the Coral Catshark. Invertebrates are not safe and the Coral Shark is not recommended in a reef tank. A closed lid on the tank needs to be secure at all time to prevent the shark from jumping out unexpectedly.
Sharks and rays will eat all foods whole so it is important to feed your shark or ray pieces of food according to what it can swallow for its size. To ensure proper feeding use a feeding stick. Feed all meaty foods such as small fish (silversides), squid and live ghost shrimp if needed to initiate a feeding response .
