Description
The recently discovered Walking Shark found in Indonesia has a beige body with thick brown vertical bands and brown spots throughout.

The Walking Shark stays relatively small for a shark and makes a good aquarium shark. It will use its fins to crawl on the bottom substrate. Have plenty of useable open sandy substrate to prevent scratches on its soft skin.  Maintain pristine water conditions with plentiful dissolved oxygen in the water and good water movement.  Structures are needed for shelter as well.  More than one can be kept in larger tanks.  Keep with more formidable fish such as larger tangs, and less aggressive angelfish.  Puffers, Triggerfish and aggressive angels should not be housed with sharks as they can inflict wounds in the eyes and soft skin. Invertebrates are not safe and the Walking Shark is not recommended in a reef tank.
Sharks and rays will eat all foods whole so it is important to feed your shark or ray pieces of food according to what it can swallow for its size.  To ensure proper feeding use a feeding stick. Feed all meaty foods such as small fish (silversides), squid and shrimp. To insure proper nutrition and disease resistance mix the feeding with Ocean Nutrition Shark Formula.
