The Octopus Anemone is one of the more obscure sea anemones, but is well worth having if you are able to accommodate this species. It has long beige to purple tapered tentacles that reside in its oral disc ranging in a variety of colors from gray to light purple.
The Octopus Anemone should have a thick sandy substrate to anchor itself. It requires slight water movement but does best in full lighting. Not a good host for clownfish. This anemone contains zooxanthellae, but should be fed at least every other day.
The anemone uses photosynthesis and turns light into nutrients. They also filter algae and other organisms in the surrounding water column where they are anchored. Supplement its diet with meaty foods such as shrimp, krill, clams and worms. Soak foods in vitamin solution for added nutrition.
