The Horseshoe Crab is a primitive looking specimen, it has a roundish gray shell with a small spear-like tail that protrudes in the rear of its shell, rows of insect-like legs underneath, and two small eyes on the top of their shell.
Horseshoe Crabs typically do not fare well in captivity due to their need for a large sandy bottom to roam, hide and forage. Horseshoe Crabs will scavenge most anything but prefer soft invertebrates for easy consumption.
Crabs are aggressive scavengers and will leave no stone unturned to seek food. Supplement their diet with algae, small meaty foods and pellet foods such as Ocean Nutrition Formula One Pellets.
