The Cerith Snail has a beautifully adorned elongated spiral shell. They are small in size but are a true work horse on the substrate. They are found in the wild in groups of hundreds off the South Florida coast.
The Cerith Snail will not discriminate and will consume algae, detritus and small organisms. If grazing becomes slim pickings, supplement with algae flakes. Stock aquarium with one snail per gallon of water. Keep hermit crabs and snails in separate systems.
Most grazing snails will feed on diatoms, a major group of algae. Generally all established aquariums will support algae. If algae levels are low, algae flakes or strips can be added. Populate your tank with one snail per 10 gallons of water.
