The Mexican Turbo Snail or Turban Snail has a hard gray off-set shell shaped like a turban.
This snail will make short work of destructive algae in the tank, especially hair-line algae. The Mexican Turbo Snail should be supplied with plenty of well secured live rock. Keep in friendly fish systems and supplement with correct doses of calcium for its shell. As with all invertebrates, drip acclimate at a slow rate. Keep water parameters constant, and avoid copper-based medications.
Most grazing snails will feed on diatoms, a major group of algae. Generally all established aquariums will support algae. If algae levels are low, algae flakes or strips can be added. Populate your tank with one snail per 10 gallons of water.
