The Zebra Turbo Snail maintains the algae in the aquarium. It has a tight spiraled dark brown and tan shell and can be up to six inches in size.
These wonderful fast moving cleaners are totally dependent on a diet of algae. If collected in warm waters, these Zebra Turbo Snails are more suitable for warmer home aquariums and will be longer lived. As with all invertebrates, drip acclimate at a slow rate. Keep water parameters constant, and avoid copper-based medications.
Most grazing snails will feed on diatoms, a major group of algae. Generally all established aquariums will support algae. If algae levels are low, algae flakes or strips can be added. Populate your tank with one snail per 10 gallons of water.
