The Banded Serpent Starfish has an overall pale appearance with a small disc body and thin bands on its long worm-like arms covered with small tiny spines or feet that help it move and locate food.
The Banded Serpant Starfish needs a sandy substrate with plenty of live rock for shelter. It is nocturnal and will forage at night on waste and tiny organisms. Brittle Starfish can be harmed by rapid changes in water quality, copper-based medications and aggressive fish.
Starfish will feed on waste, small organisms, invertebrates and algae in the rock and substrate. Also supplement their diet with small minced meaty foods such as clams, squid and shrimp.
