Description
The Long Spine Urchin has a round black body covered with long sharp black banded spines.
The Long Spine Urchin is easy to care for if provided with a well- establish tank with plenty of live rock. Keep proper salinity and temperatures consistent. More active at night they will graze algae on live rock and will accept some small meaty foods. Spines are not poisonous but can inflict wounds on the skin.
Starfish and urchins will feed on waste, small organisms, invertebrates and algae in the rock and substrate. Also supplement their diet with small minced meaty foods such as clams, squid and shrimp.
