The Red Pencil Sea Urchin or Red Slate Pencil Urchin has a host of reddish clubs and dull spines that project from its central round body.
The Red Pencil Sea Urchin can grow fairly large and needs live rock to scavenge algae and other tiny organisms. They are destructive in reef tanks and should only be kept in friendly fish systems. Keep only one in smaller tanks.
Starfish and urchins will feed on waste, small organisms, invertebrates and algae in the rock and substrate. Also supplement their diet with small minced meaty foods such as clams, squid and shrimp.
