The Chrysurus or Goldtail Angelfish is a faded brown color and has bent vertical stripes going down its body; the head has wavy blue lines through it. Juveniles are similar to adults except for having a colorless tail and a blue fringe around the fins.
The Chrysurus is one of the more rarely kept angelfish in the hobby. Collected in Africa, they may require extra care. They will also nip at many corals and are not safe for reef tanks. House the Chrysurus Angelfish in a large tank with plenty of swimming room and live rock for grazing; provide good shelter areas as well. May nip at a variety of invertebrates.
Angelfish will accept a wide variety of dry prepared, frozen and live foods; some examples are marine algae and mysis shrimp. It is good to mix up the food during the week for adequate nutrition.
