The Semeion Butterflyfish or Dotted Butterflyfish has a golden yellow body with horizontal rows of black dots that run though its center section. A vertical black band runs down across the eyes and along the back. It has a long slender mouth that protrudes upward used for probing hard to reach coral and rocks.
The Semeion Butterflyfish requires extra attention due to its feeding habits which are coral and other small organisms in the wild. House in a well-established system with peaceful fish, plenty of live rock and sandy substrate.
To initiate feeding, offer a variety of small frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp and cyclopeeze. Train your butterflyfish to eat Formula One Small Pellets or Flakes for a healthy diet.
