The Yellow Head Butterflyfish has an oval shaped pale colored body with yellow accented fins; six faint horizontal lines run down its midsection. It has a yellow snout that is narrow and protruded for excavating small organisms in crevices of live rock.
The Yellow Head Butterflyfish is a moderately hardy fish once it begins eating in captivity, however this may vary in individuals. They should be kept with peaceful tank mates and allowed generous swimming area in the tank. Pairs can be added to tank if done simultaneously and can be kept with other butterflyfish species. House in tank with plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter. Will nip at coral and invertebrates and not recommended for a reef tank.
To initiate feeding, offer a variety of small frozen foods such as mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp and cyclopeeze. Train your butterflyfish to eat Formula One Small Pellets or Flakes for a healthy diet.
