Description
The Bluefin Damsel or Black Damsel has a white body with a yellow band that extends from the head to the end of the dorsal fin. There are subtle blue highlights on the lower fins and black margins on the pectoral fins. As adults the Bluefin Damsel turns into the Black Damsel while keeping the same shape as the juvenile.
The Bluefin Damsel is a hardy, well-colored fish with a peaceful demeanor. It will turn rather bold and feisty as an adult and lose all its coloration. Eventually you may have to relocate into another tank to prevent hostility toward more peaceful fish. It is a durable fish that can live many years in captivity. Have plenty of live rock for shelter and ample swimming area in the tank. Not advisable in reef tanks or with invertebrates.
Feed a variety of meaty and prepared food. Ocean Nutrition Formula One Small Pellets makes a perfect diet for these small colorful fish.
