The Wheeler’s Shrimp Goby or Wheeler’s Watchman Goby has a whitish base color and reddish maroon bands covering its body with red iridescent spots around the head.
The Wheeler’s Shrimp Goby sifts sand in search of food and will burrow in the substrate. They have a symbiotic relationship with Alpheus Shrimps that have very little eye sight but will construct burrows for them; in return the goby will stand guard and alert the shrimp if danger is present. The Wheeler’s Goby is a great choice for smaller tanks to make interesting viewing. Best to keep only one per tank.
This goby is a sand sifter. Its diet should include a variety of live and frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, live worms, and prepared foods for carnivores. Keep well fed.
