The Black Saddled Coral Grouper or Coral Trout is a large grouper with two color forms; the first color form has a whitish body with at least four black saddles that wrap the upper portion of the fish with stunning yellow shading and black spots on the fins. The second color form is an overall darker version of the first with small iridescent spotting throughout the body. It has pronounced sharp teeth used for incapacitating its prey.
The Black Saddled Coral Grouper is a very fast growing fish and requires a large tank with larger aggressive tank mates, all others will be eaten. Provide plenty of shelter areas within live rock for the Black Saddled Grouper.
Feed a variety of meaty foods such as silversides, squid and frozen shrimp, include Ocean Nutrition Formula One Medium Pellets for juveniles.
