Description
The Pinecone Fish or Pineapple Fish have oval bodies and are completely covered with plate like scales which are shiny yellowish gold in color, tiny thorns cover various parts of the body for protection against predators.
The Pinecone Fish is a slow moving cryptic fish found in cave and covered structures near reefs of the coast of Australia. The Pinecone Fish is nocturnal and at night scans the terrain for small invertebrates to eat. Keep the Pinecone Fish with non-aggressive tankmates that prefer low lighting. The Pinecone Fish if kept in favorable conditions is a long lived fish.
The Pinecone Fish is a carnivore that will only eat live foods, live feeder shrimp and perhaps live worms and brine shrimp should be offered. Will eat slow moving ornamental invertebrates in the aquarium
