The Atlantic Seahorse or Lined Seahorse can be found in gray, black, red and green colorations depending on its environment and mood. Formidable boney curved plates make up its erect stature. Usually the neck on the Atlantic Seahorse is outlined in white. Males have larger and longer tails than females.
Keep in a tank designated for seahorses only and keep tank-raised specimens separate from wild species in a 50 gallon tank or larger with stationary branching structures for the tail to cling onto. Keep water movement in the tank to a minimum. Mandarin gobies and pipefish make good tank mates.
Initially offer live shrimp, over time try frozen mysis shrimp and other small meaty fare. We recommend soaking your foods in Vitality, which is a liquid vitamin, amino acid, and trace element supplement.
