The Dogface Sweetlips or Painted Sweetlips juvenile will have a black and white splotched pattern on its elongated body. Adults will have a white to yellow body with generous small black spots throughout their body.
They are interesting fish to watch as they swim with their large pectoral fins. Provide ample swimming area with live rock for shelter. They are difficult to feed, housing with peaceful tank mates gives the sweetlips a chance to eat. Try live feeder shrimp then transition to frozen preparations after your sweetlips is fully acclimated in its new surroundings. Juveniles can be housed together but will need larger tanks. Will eat small invertebrates.
Provide a variety of frozen meaty food such as silversides, shrimp, krill and Mysis Shrimp.
