The Juvenile Painted Sweetlips has a white body with thick black lateral lines. The underside of the body is yellow. The adult will become more solid gray with small dark spots around the outer side of the body and fins.
It is a common fish found in the Indo-Pacific waters. They reach over 3 feet in length in the wild. Provide ample swimming area with live rock for shelter. They are difficult to feed, housing with peaceful tank mates gives the sweetlips a chance to eat. Try live feeder shrimp then transition to frozen preparations after your sweetlips is fully acclimated in its new surroundings. Juveniles can be housed together but will need larger tanks. Will eat small invertebrates.
Provide a variety of frozen meaty food such as silversides, shrimp, krill and Mysis Shrimp.
