The Blue Throat Triggerfish, or Bluechin Triggerfish vary slightly from male to female; the male has a distinct blue chin with yellow accents on the fins. Both have a rounded face with faint spot patterns on their greenish blue to beige body's.
The Blue Throat Trigger is mild mannered and can be kept with tangs and other peaceful fish but still use caution with invertebrates, despite their nervousness initially in a new tank, they will eventually become more relaxed with time. Have a thick sand bed and plenty of live rock for shelter when the Blue Throat Triggerfish is in the house.
Triggerfish are durable specimens that require large tanks with plenty of live rock. They have sharp teeth and powerful jaws for crushing. Belligerent Triggers will attack all invertebrates and most will try to rearrange live rock. Keep in aggressive fish only tank with few exceptions. It is best to add triggerfish of the same size and at the same time to prevent skirmishing.
Feed a variety of meaty foods and vitamin enriched foods such as Ocean Nutrition Formula One Pellets in their diet.
