The Gold Bar Wrasse is native to the Indian Ocean and is from the family called Thalassoma wrasses. They are colorful elongated streamlined fish, often described as being cigar shaped. The Gold Bar has a muted gold band that divides its head from its vibrant blue body. On the gray face it has iridescent wavy lines.
Thalassoma wrasses have a good track record of easily adapting to the captive environment. Once acclimated they are known for being quite durable and long lived. Though they will not harm corals, Thalassoma wrasses eat invertebrates, so they are best kept in a fish-only aquarium. Best to keep only one with larger semi-aggressive fish equal in size. Have lots of live rock with good hiding places and thick sandy substrate.
The wrasse will consume a wide variety of foods. Feed vitamin enriched frozen and dry foods. Train your wrasse to eat Ocean Nutrition Pellet Food for a healthy diet.
