Description
The Red Tail Tamarin Wrasse or Psychedelic wrasse is found around the Hawaiian Islands. As a juvenile it is mostly brown with white spots and a red tail. As it matures the body will turn a lighter brown and the spots will turn blue; the head is orange and the tail will remain red.
This fish requires a larger tank with mature rock work to probe for small organisms. An established reef aquarium or refugium type aquarium is best. They are somewhat tricky to feed and may require live feeder shrimp to initiate feeding. Keep only one per tank in a peaceful environment with larger angels or tangs. Females can be housed in the same tank but without males, as they will fight for territory. Have lots of good hiding places and thick sandy substrate. Will eat invertebrates.
