The Slippery Dick Wrasse juvenile has a long slender gray body with one or two prominent lateral brown marks running the length of the body and a black spot on the base of the tail fin. Adults have two greenish to yellow and even purple shaded markings running the length of the body. Individuals can differ greatly in color and markings depending on habitat, phase and mating.
The Slippery Dick is found in the shallow waters of the Caribbean in small groups grazing for small invertebrates. In the home aquarium, keep this fish with other semi-aggressive fish along the lines of squirrelfish and others with a different body shape. Have lots of good hiding places and thick sandy substrate. Will eat smaller invertebrates.
The wrasse will consume a wide variety of foods. Feed vitamin enriched frozen and dry foods. Train your wrasse to eat Ocean Nutrition Pellet Food for a healthy diet.
