The Surge Wrasse gets its name from the surge areas where it is found: reef flats, reef margins, and rocky coastlines. Adults are green in color with two red lateral lines down their body and red splotches on their back. The females are not as distinguished, having a molted green color.
The Surge Wrasse can grow large and are not suitable for a reef tank. They should be kept in a fish-only tank with other larger semi-aggressive fish of adequate size. Have plenty of live rock and good hiding areas with thick sandy substrate. They will eat most invertebrates.
The wrasse will consume a wide variety of foods. Feed vitamin enriched frozen and dry foods. Train your wrasse to eat Ocean Nutrition Pellet Food for a healthy diet.
